This position serves a Senior Payroll Developer supporting the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) by conducting complex and specialized professional application services to support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Financials and HFS Payroll using, Integrated Management System (IMS) and Structured Query Language (SQL) database processing for the Financial Management section as well as other HFS areas, such as Bureau of Technical Operations, Personnel, Budget and Federal Finance. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with coursework in computer science or directly related fields
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience in application services or a related Information Technology field
  • Requires extensive knowledge of hardware and software, languages, and procedures to provide assigned technical and analytical services
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience with Mainframe COBOL, IMS Batch, Microsoft SQL and IMS Online
  • Requires the ability to verify identity
  • Requires employment authorization to accept permanent full-time position with State of Illinois
  • Requires the ability to pass a position specific, agency required background check
  • Requires self-disclosure of criminal history
  • Requires the ability to use agency supplied equipment such as laptop, personal computer, work cell phone, etc
  • Requires the ability to attend seminars, conferences, and training to remain current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to job duties
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry objects or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds. This is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)). Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years professional experience working in payroll administration, support and maintenance

  • Three (3) years of professional experience with professional technical support experience in IBM-supplied core utilities for Z/OS
  • Two (2) years of professional experience with PANVALET and File Manager
  • One (1) year of professional technical support experience in the use of the Mobius reporting tool and, and PANAPT system for managing changes and moving software from test to production
  • Two (2) years of professional experience presenting technical information to others with clarity and precision
  • Two (2) years of professional experience maintaining satisfactory working relationships with others

Responsibilities

  • Under administrative direction, serves as a Senior Payroll Developer for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) conducting complex and specialized professional application services to support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Financials and HFS Payroll using, Integrated Management System (IMS) and Structured Query Language (SQL) database processing for the Financial Management section as well as other HFS areas, such as Bureau of Technical Operations, Personnel, Budget and Federal Finance
  • Serves as a team leader for specific systems and tools
  • Serves as a lead analyst for system or sub-systems of normal complexity
  • Coordinates the development or major revision of a complex system project
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
