Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on payroll experience in a mid-to-large size organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll systems (ADP preferred).
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations, FLSA, and wage and hour laws.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Process of end-to-end payroll for multiple employee groups, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Prepare and validate payroll inputs, including time and attendance data, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Ensure accurate payroll outputs, including paychecks, direct deposits, and payroll reports.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed reports on payroll costs for Finance, reconciliation of benefits deductions, and labor analytics.
  • Support financial audits, internal audits, and compliance reviews with required payroll documentation.
  • Assist with administering certain benefits programs (short term life, 401k, disability).
  • Ensure adherence to payroll-related legislation and internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in compliance with retention and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end activities, including W-2, retirement plan, benefits and tax reconciliation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the payroll system and participate in system upgrades, testing, and integrations.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to streamline payroll operations and enhance accuracy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and IT teams to resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll inquiries from employees and stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior payroll team members as needed.
