About The Position

This engineering position is for a systems engineer who is creative and excited to contribute to the development of space-borne payload systems to enable the advancement of knowledge in earth and planetary science, astrophysics, and national security. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning, and strong execution. In this role, you will support programs with payload system design, payload trades, payload integration and test, and post-delivery technical support. You will lead the development of the Environmental Design and Test Specification (EDTS) document and perform systems engineering tasks throughout the program or Research and Development (R&D) project lifecycle. Understanding and leading the decomposition and allocation of electro-optical payload requirements to lower-level specifications will be a key responsibility, along with refining requirements as necessary. You will be responsible for ensuring payload system performance for compliance and verification of requirements. This includes leading and performing analyses for the development of error trees and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs), managing system interfaces, and leading the development of payload Interface Control Documents (ICDs). Coordination with AI&T engineers will be essential for test configurations, verification approaches, and analysis plans necessary for payload verification. Additionally, you will prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and/or customers, and support program gates such as the Systems Requirement Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Functional Configuration Audit (FCA), and payload sell-off. Maintaining a regular and predictable work schedule while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the department and the company is crucial. You will interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment and perform other duties as necessary.
