Responsible for providing management support for the patient relations program for Sanford Health. This includes representing the department in educational activities and enterprise activities. Actively represents Patient Relations role as needed on meetings and delegated committees. Provides mentorship and leadership to new team members and participates in growth and development of Patient Relations team. Provides education to staff and patients on issues related to patient relations. Responsible for serving as the main point of contact for patients and families when care or outcomes do not meet expectations. Functions as a resource and professional liaison with internal departments promote the primary goal of optimal care to patient. Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Demonstrates independence, assertiveness, and critical thinking when working with patients, families, and co-workers. The specialist has the ability to document clearly, the ability to solve problems, and is self-motivated. Works independently with self-direction. Ability to establish priorities, have strong flexibility and organizational skills. Identifying and resolving patient and family member concerns and problems regarding services and staff. Maintaining cooperative working relationships with other departments in order to respond quickly to patient concerns. Assists and actively involved in patient grievance plans. As requested, take escalated calls from patients asking to speak with a Patient Relations supervisor. Run reports for TJC or DOH visits and for CMO reviews. Assisting with interpretation of policies and procedures for patients, families and visitors and review/update as needed. Participate in annual Patient Relations staff reviews. Participate in new staff hires and orientation.
