About The Position

The position is a full-time role at Geisinger Medical Center, working Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. The role involves providing appointment scheduling services to patients and referring physician offices, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines while collecting and maintaining patient information. The individual will facilitate communication among patients, physicians, and clinical staff, and will be responsible for scheduling appointments and coordinating necessary preparations for diagnostic procedures. The position also includes mentoring new hires and leading internal improvement teams to enhance scheduling processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience.
  • Previous patient registration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides appointment scheduling services to patients and referring physician offices.
  • Collects and maintains accurate patient information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Facilitates communication among patients, physicians, clinical staff, and internal departments.
  • Schedules patient appointments for providers including specialty and ancillary services.
  • Coordinates and completes accurate basic registration and insurance information.
  • Collaborates with Clinic Operations to satisfy appointment requests.
  • Processes requests for referrals and obtains necessary referrals for physician offices.
  • Answers questions from patients and referring physicians regarding appointment status.
  • Leads internal department improvement teams to resolve scheduling-related issues.
