About The Position

The Senior Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for the preparation, editing, and submission of accurate and timely insurance claims to various regulatory payers. This role involves reviewing and resolving billing edits, verifying claim accuracy, reconciling claim runs, and addressing claims editing issues. The representative will also analyze coding errors, document billing trends, and assist in problem-solving to ensure efficient billing processes.

Requirements

• Coursework/Training in medical terminology and medical coding from an accredited school or equivalent on-the-job training in a billing role.
• 1 year of experience in hospital insurance regulatory billing, including Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Labor & Industries (L&I).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Management, or Health Care Administration.
• Strong technical background with experience in automated systems.
• Experience working with Provider One, MECA, FSS0, and/or CWF.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, edit, and submit accurate insurance claims to regulatory payers.
• Review and resolve billing edits in EPIC and claims scrubber system.
• Verify accuracy of claims submitted to payers.
• Reconcile claim runs and create electronic claim files.
• Resolve claims editing issues and interact with third-party clearinghouses.
• Identify recurring billing errors and report them to the supervisor.
• Conduct research and analyze coding errors, documenting billing issues and trends.
• Process credit balances due to regulatory payers.
