About The Position

The Prince William County Department of Park & Recreation (DPR) has a service portfolio that includes 81 parks and facilities spread across 5,600 acres, two waterparks, four community pools, two indoor aquatic and fitness centers, three community centers, three golf courses, 60 miles of trails, 15 historic sites, and over 200 athletic fields. The Ranger division is looking to expand its team with a new Senior Park Ranger. Our ideal candidate possesses the desire to lead a diverse workforce, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community safety. About This Role: The Senior Park Ranger is a leader in the Park Ranger Division. This position will supervise street operations during a scheduled shift with assigned Rangers. The primary responsibility of the Senior Park Ranger is to protect park resources and enhance visitor experience in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • 3 years of related experience defined as educating, directing, and dealing with the public in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to walk long distances on uneven terrain.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and a safe driving record.
  • Must have/or complete CPR, First Aid, and bloodborne pathogen training upon hire.
  • Must be able to pass the IPMBA Mountain Bike course for security personnel within a year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 + years of experience working in a security/protection role for a parks and recreation agency, military, or law enforcement.
  • 3 + years of experience supervising security staff or military team.
  • Possess a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or any other nationally recognized training certificate in Security.
  • International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) Mountain bike certification.
