About The Position

Overview Position Summary: The Senior Paralegal provides advanced legal and administrative support to the Head of Legal, the COO, and any external legal firms engaged by the Premier Family of Companies (PFOC). This position plays a critical role in supporting legal operations across multiple business units in the U.S. and U.S. Virgin Islands. PFOC includes four highly regulated healthcare companies—an insurance company offering accident and health products, a care/case management company, a third-party administrator (TPA), and a podiatric medical group—along with a variety of non-healthcare entities. The Senior Paralegal supports litigation, contracting, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional risk management efforts. This role requires attorney supervision and frequent collaboration with business unit leadership.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of blended litigation and transactional paralegal experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract law, litigation procedures, and healthcare/insurance regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced legal research, writing, editing, and document management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and manage high-volume workloads.
  • Must be a self-learner who demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and consistent follow-through.
  • Proficient in online legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw).
  • Experienced in electronic filing with state, federal, and administrative bodies.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, cybersecurity protocols, and secure data handling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft O365; Excel proficiency should include formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (editing, redacting, combining documents, e-signatures).

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Paralegal Certification (ACP) or Certified Paralegal (CP) preferred.
  • Active Notary Public Commission (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
  • Participation in professional associations (NALA, NFPA, etc.) encouraged.
  • Additional 3–5 years of corporate governance, healthcare, insurance, or multi-entity legal experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting executives and working across multiple jurisdictions (state, federal, and USVI) preferred.
  • Competent in Copilot or other GenAI tools, with awareness of risks and limitations (preferred).
  • Experience with organizational chart and workflow mapping tools (e.g., Lucidchart).
  • Experience with project management platforms (e.g., Microsoft Project) preferred.
  • Experience with BI and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management or legal matter management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage service of process and coordinate litigation matters from intake to resolution.
  • Maintain litigation case files, ensuring accurate electronic and physical recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate discovery, including document preservation, collection, review, and production.
  • Liaise with outside counsel, expert witnesses, and internal stakeholders.
  • Track all critical litigation deadlines, ensuring timely compliance with court and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare litigation status reports for the Head of Legal and COO.
  • Draft, review, and revise contracts (vendor agreements, provider agreements, NDAs, and service agreements) under attorney supervision.
  • Assist with due diligence for new vendors, providers, and partnership evaluations.
  • Maintain a centralized contract management and file retention system.
  • Track renewals, expirations, obligations, and compliance requirements across all PFOC entities.
  • Prepare contract status reports for the Head of Legal and COO.
  • Assist with corporate governance tasks including entity maintenance, annual reports, licensure renewals, and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions (including U.S. federal, state, and USVI agencies).
  • Serve as a Notary Public; must obtain commission within 60 days if not already active.
  • Monitor proposed legislation, regulatory updates, and compliance requirements relevant to PFOC’s industries.
  • Create, update, and maintain organizational charts and process maps for PFOC and its business units.
  • Conduct legal research to support drafting of legal documents, opinion letters, guidance summaries, and compliance initiatives.
  • Research new licensing requirements for business expansions or new operational territories.
  • Support cross-functional compliance, audit, and risk management projects.
  • Perform additional legal, regulatory, and operational tasks as assigned.
