Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Associate’s degree in Legal Studies or Paralegal certification; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a commercial real estate paralegal or exercising the required skills above.
  • Substantive experience in one or more of the following areas: commercial real estate law and real estate transactions; commercial and/or consumer lending and loan transactions and documentation; and, general corporate law.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Costar.
  • Adept at managing multiple complex transactions with the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Close attention to detail with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work as a team with attorneys and other legal staff.
  • Strong sense of discretion and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of Texas banking laws and regulations and experience working with banks or financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support in all phases of commercial real estate transactions including assisting in the management of a large portfolio of owned and leased property.
  • Prepare critical dates memos for sales, purchases and leases.
  • Maintain pre-closing checklists and status charts for project teams.
  • Coordinate all due diligence, closing and post-closing logistics.
  • Review and analyze title documents, boundary surveys, legal descriptions and title commitments.
  • Research real property tax and ownership information.
  • Draft and review various real estate documents including lease amendments, SNDAs, estoppels, notices, letter agreements, easements, releases and ancillary corporate documents such as resolutions and consents.
