About The Position

The Senior Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal will be a member of GE Vernova’s Technology Legal Team with the primary responsibility of managing core IP operations for GE Vernova’s Advanced Research Center (ARC), including annuities, docketing, invention intake, and portfolio reporting, and providing advanced trademark paralegal support to the Executive Counsel managing GE Vernova’s trademark matters. The ideal candidate brings deep IP process fluency, strong judgment in prioritizing deadlines across a dynamic docket, and proven experience managing domestic and international trademark matters with minimal supervision. The Technology Legal Team supports numerous other technology issues, including Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and privacy, and the Senior IP Paralegal may also provide support on these issues as needed.

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years of domestic and international IP paralegal experience, with demonstrated ownership of global portfolios and adversarial matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Corsearch (or comparable search platforms) and the USPTO’s TEAS filing system.
  • Hands-on experience with IP docketing systems such as WebTMS or Anaqua; strong Excel skills and proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing IP operations workflows, including annuities, billing, awards programs, and portfolio reporting.
  • Outstanding communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills; able to synthesize complex IP information for business audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular IP operational reporting, including new disclosure reports, attorney due reports, and portfolio operations dashboards; deliver ad hoc reporting for attorneys, inventors, and business leaders.
  • Manage Anaqua docketing operations, including outside counsel assignment setup, docket updates, inter-business transfers, divestiture/third-party collaboration docketing, and due report oversight; process U.S. and international firm communications and confirm assignment documentation.
  • Support invention intake by reviewing disclosures for completeness, coordinating inventor follow-up, and ensuring accurate Anaqua updates.
  • Administer annuity payments and manage legal billing workflows, including initiating purchase orders, reviewing invoices, and preparing periodic financial reports for finance and leadership.
  • Oversee monetary IP awards programs for patent filings and trade secrets, including eligibility verification, coordination of payments through HR, and system updates in Anaqua.
  • Manage non-monetary IP recognition programs, including tracking patent filing milestones and coordinating recognition activities.
  • Coordinate preliminary copyright transfer form screening for ARC submitted publications, escalating to counsel as appropriate.
  • Manage global trademark portfolios through searching, prosecution, registration, renewals, and maintenance, including direction of outside counsel to ensure timely, effective, and business-aligned outcomes.
  • Conduct and review U.S. trademark searches, including preliminary in-house screens; evaluate search results and opinions to assess availability, scope of rights, and risk for large-scale naming projects.
  • Prepare and file electronically with the USPTO, including trademark applications, statements of use, responses to office actions, assignments/recordations, and renewals.
  • Monitor and manage adversarial trademark matters in multiple jurisdictions, including reviewing watch notices, conducting preliminary use investigations, coordinating evidence, and recommending and implementing resolutions in consultation with counsel.
  • Support integration of acquired trademark portfolios, including title/recordation work, name changes, and IP diligence for M&A and licensing.
  • Maintain and curate trademark records and data within docketing and portfolio systems; generate status, deadline, and portfolio reports for attorneys and business stakeholders.
  • Support trademark licensing matters, including administration and maintenance of internal trademark sublicense programs across subsidiaries and joint ventures.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with business clients, attorneys, and international counsel on status, risk, and recommendations.
