Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years in packaging engineering, preferably in the beverage or consumer goods industry, with demonstrated ability to lead projects independently.
  • Strong knowledge of the flexible packaging landscape and manufacturing methods.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials (flexibles, plastics, paperboard, corrugate) and manufacturing processes, including sustainability practices.
  • Proficiency in documenting designs and generating clear technical reports with high attention to details.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).
  • Strong knowledge of the testing methods and requirements for thin film structures.
  • APR guidelines understanding is desired.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and other packaging design tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Own complex packaging projects from concept through commercialization, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost targets are met.
  • Help set priorities and guide other engineers and technicians in day-to-day tasks and project execution.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance improvements, and sustainable innovations across primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging.
  • Develop specifications, tests methods, and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with minimal oversight.
  • Evaluate and recommend materials, designs, and technologies that balance sustainability, functionality, and cost.
  • Use data and design-of-experiments (DOE) principles to make sound technical and business decisions.
  • Work cross-functionally with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to drive successful product launches and packaging improvements worldwide.
  • Ensure all packaging processes comply with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Maintain transparency and clarity in documentation, testing, and communication.
  • Keep the end-user experience at the center of every design, delivering packaging that meets shelf life and integrity requirements.
