About The Position

Responsible for packaging concepts and design. Knowledge of print process and how it applies to production printing. Daily management and mentoring of 1-2 Associate Packaging Designers. Creating assets and creative design as it pertains to assigned brands. The execution of these duties will include but not limited to the responsibilities below. To ensure success as a Senior Packaging Designer, the ideal candidate will have 6-10 years’ packaging design experience in the toy industry, expertise in die-lines and packaging construction, and expertise in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 6-10 years’ of experience in packaging design in the toy industry
  • Expertise in die-lines & packaging construction
  • Knowledge of print production with ability to review and correct color proofs.
  • Expertise in Illustrator and Photoshop is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Domestic and/or international travel as needed.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written)
  • Experience in managing a design team (2+ years)
  • Must provide a copy of, or link to, portfolio for review

Responsibilities

  • Create and design product packaging from the initial concept through final execution.
  • Understand product branding as an overall approach to execution, including working within licensor style guide restrictions provided.
  • Work with property licensors and licensing agents to help obtain their approval.
  • Assist, as needed, in the two-dimensional aspects of the three-dimensional development (ex. creating product stickers, patterns, etc.).
  • Support Marketing as necessary with presentation, commercial, and video materials.
  • Design and implement trade show graphics and props.
  • Interface with the web development team to provide support and initial conceptual development for assigned brands.
  • Include all safety or legal requirements and verbiage on any print materials created ensuring that internal approval procedures are followed.
  • Guide, mentor, and manage a small group of entry level designers.
  • Works well independently and with a team.
  • Able to take feedback from multiple sources to create creative design solutions as well as providing additional concepts that might apply to the specific project with little guidance.
  • Participates in creative strategy and execution.
