The position functions as a technical specialist, supervising multi-discipline engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity, and/or is recognized as a key reference for technical guidance through depth and breadth of knowledge. The role involves providing guidance on design guides, standards, systems, and engineering codes, while also preparing complex engineering deliverables and managing project budgets and schedules.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 11 years related work experience.
  • Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience in 69kV to 500kV overhead transmission line design.
  • Working knowledge and/or expertise in Power Line system based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.).
  • Previous client interaction experience with solid relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience with the design of utility-scale electrical transmission systems.
  • Structural design of transmission steel structures and their foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
  • Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with B&V quality program.
  • Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects.
  • Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
  • Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Develops and applies advanced engineering solutions to complex problems.
  • Reviews lower level engineering work or assignments.
  • Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on complex projects.
  • Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
  • Works to identify future client needs and how to better position B&V for the future.
  • Serves as the technical specialist in a broad area of specialization.
  • Typically oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions.
  • Actively mentors lower level and mid level professionals.
