About The Position

The Senior Outpatient Pharmacy Procurement Specialist is pivotal in monitoring the procurement of medications for outpatient pharmacies. In this role, the specialist addresses tactical challenges and pricing issues, ensuring effective resolution of invoice discrepancies through strategic coordination with both internal and external stakeholders. This position is essential for maintaining seamless operations and maximizing value in the pharmacy's procurement processes.

Requirements

  • Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A degree in Supply Management or Supply Chain logistics preferred.
  • Normally requires (4) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outpatient or retail pharmacy operations.
  • Experience with the 340B program.
  • Expertise in managing dual inventory models.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the procurement process for outpatient pharmacy medications.
  • Assists in implementing new solutions to address tactical challenges related to product procurement and vendor relationships.
  • Identifies pricing issues and resolves invoice discrepancies by coordinating with Vendors, Accounting, Accounts Payable, and outpatient pharmacies.
  • Understands how to leverage key contracts, programs, and vendor agreements to enhance organizational value.
  • Conducts regular audits of supply chain processes to ensure adherence to organizational standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently identify and resolve issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Contributes to identifying strategies for purchasing medications on advantageous contracts.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in inventory management for the outpatient pharmacy department.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
