Millennium’s Geospatial specializes in the most advanced and reliable fiber optic cable network designs, fiber-to-the-home designs (FTTH) designs, fiber optic engineering, and a full complement of related support. As a Senior OSP Design Engineer at Millennium, you will provide advanced technical support across engineering, permitting, and quality control functions to ensure high-quality, standards-compliant project delivery. This role emphasizes mentoring and coaching team members, assisting with onboarding, and reinforcing best practices to maintain consistency and readiness for future project scalability. Additionally, you will support internal teams by contributing to QA/QC processes, helping maintain project timelines and budgets, and work closely with Solutions Architects by participating in client and project updates as needed. Driving Impact Through: OSP Network Design & Feasibility Strategic Planning: Analyze demographics and ROI to estimate "cost per passing" and develop high-level conceptual designs for grant applications and marketing. Route Optimization: Use GIS/CAD to design transport, feeder, and distribution routes, selecting the best aerial or buried paths based on cost and constructability. Technical Prep: Interpret utility maps and survey data to produce construction drawings, staking sheets, and Bills of Materials (BOM). Field Engineering & Construction Support Site Verification: Conduct field walks to validate design accuracy, document pole details, and identify utility conflicts. On-Site Problem Solving: Provide real-time design adjustments for construction crews and offer technical guidance on splicing and staking documents. As-Built Management: Capture field redlines and data to ensure final records reflect actual "as-built" conditions. QA/QC & Standards Compliance Rigorous Review: Audit designs, BOMs, and splicing plans against industry codes (NESC, NEC) and client-specific standards. Process Improvement: Maintain QA/QC checklists and provide feedback/coaching to design teams to reduce discrepancies. Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all deliverables meet permitting requirements and evolving engineering standards. Project Coordination & Documentation Timeline Tracking: Manage milestones and deliverables to ensure on-time submission of design packages. Data Integration: Maintain and organize GIS, CAD, and shapefile documentation.
