About The Position

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will support the Michigan State Police by managing and optimizing the database environment, ensuring compliance with security and integrity standards, and providing support for application development teams. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to resolve complex problems effectively while maintaining relationships with clients and support teams.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of IT database administration and support.
• Excellent communication skills for oral and written reports and presentations.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and support teams.
• Experience in resolving complex problems in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of data architecture and design.
• Experience with installing, configuring, and upgrading database software.
• Familiarity with security practices including reviewing scans and implementing patches.
• Experience with database backups and restorations.
• Skills in performance optimization and tuning.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications.
• Familiarity with Michigan State Police operations and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support application development teams and vendor supplied Software-as-a-Service efforts for MSP.
• Implement and maintain the database environment ensuring compliance with security and integrity needs.
• Assist data architecture team with database design.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database software.
• Ensure all databases are current with patches and updates.
• Perform database backups and restores.
• Optimize and tune database performance.
• Act as an incident response Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Provide audit responses.
• Liaise with support team and product owner to assist MSP with database connections and data information for reporting or analytics.
• Ensure database security and integrity by following DTMB security practices, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate activities required to achieve application and database Go Live in production.
