We are seeking a Senior Operations Technician Energy to join our team in Oak Ridge, TN. AtkinsRéalis is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization. For over 50 years, we’ve partnered with public and private clients across the U.S. to deliver infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management. Our depth and breadth of expertise enables us to tackle the most technically complex and time-sensitive projects—driving innovation, resilience, and real-world impact where it matters most. We are eager to find a lab technologist to join our growing digital team within our digital lab collaboration spaces. The Digital Lab Technologist role is an exciting opportunity to work with the latest technology, including Immersive Workspaces, Extended Reality (XR) spaces, digital whiteboards, and collaboration areas, to support our clients and staff. You will also get the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders such as project managers, engineers, operations and robotics teams, to name a few, as well as our wider Nuclear digital team, located in the US and overseas. We have a growing number of digital labs around the world and are looking to welcome digital lab technologists to our team in Richland, WA.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of DOE/Nuclear Operations experience preferred.
  • Forklift or manlift operating experience preferred.
  • Hoisting and rigging experience preferred.
  • Experience working remotely with fissile materials and in radiological contamination areas, including Hot Cells, preferred.
  • Basic communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn ventilation, steam, air and water system components and functionality and qualify to operate systems.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
  • US citizenship required for AtkinsRealis Isotek Systems project positions.

Responsibilities

  • Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
  • Maintains compliance with requirements of safety documentation including Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and in accordance with Conduct of Operations guidelines and approved procedures.
  • Oversees activities of support personnel to ensure compliance with ESH&Q and facility-specific requirements.
  • Identifies potential occurrences or upset/unusual conditions and reports them to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Ensures good housekeeping and combustible loading requirements are met.
  • Conducts process operations in accordance with approved programs, procedures, and As Low as Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles.
  • Performs work as Fissionable Material Handler (FMH) responsible for operating process equipment containing fissionable material or handling, moving or otherwise changing the location of fissionable material.
  • Able to learn FMH controls, pass an exam, and maintain proficiency.
  • Supports facility operations and maintenance activities that would require wearing a respirator, as needed.
  • Performs walkdowns and validations for new processes and procedures.
  • Labels system components by procedure guidelines.
  • Operates manlifts, forklifts, bridge crane and handles rigging operations.
  • Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture.
  • Performs other duties as required.
