About The Position

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Operations Research Analyst to join our innovative, mission-focused team. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of highly skilled professionals dedicated to advancing national security space capabilities and supporting critical Department of the Air Force space missions. In this role, the Senior Operations Research Analyst will support Space Safari and its portfolio of special projects and Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) missions. The selected candidate will apply technical, operational, and analytical expertise to support the rapid planning, integration, and execution of responsive space capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience across the space mission life cycle, including spacecraft systems, ground systems, launch operations, and on-orbit mission execution. This position requires the ability to analyze complex operational challenges, support rapid mission timelines, and contribute to innovative solutions that enable responsive and resilient space operations.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with SAP access
  • 10+ years of experience supporting large-scale space programs in acquisition, systems engineering, or space operations
  • 3+ years of experience specifically supporting space operations or operational mission planning
  • 8+ years of experience working with National Security Space systems, including spacecraft, ground systems, and/or launch operations
  • Strong understanding of space mission architecture, spacecraft systems, ground segment operations, and launch integration
  • Experience supporting rapid acquisition programs and accelerated development environments, including SBIR and OTA contracting mechanisms
  • Ability to support technical integration across multiple mission elements and stakeholder organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for mission planning, operational analysis, and technical risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leadership and mission partners
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite within U.S. Government facilities and secure environments
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) missions, including spacecraft integration, ground systems, launch operations, logistics, and on-orbit mission execution
  • Conduct mission analysis, mission planning, CONOPS development, and readiness exercises to support responsive space operations
  • Coordinate daily with government customers, mission partners, and industry stakeholders to ensure mission alignment and rapid execution
  • Manage the Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) technical baseline, leading integration across spacecraft buses, payloads, ground systems, software, and mission systems
  • Maintain technical risk registers and develop and implement risk mitigation strategies across mission and system elements
  • Provide technical assessments of space, ground, and operational architectures to support mission planning and system integration
  • Identify system performance data requirements, support sustainment planning, and contribute to the development of command and control (C2) and mission planning software
  • Develop acquisition requirements and documentation supporting rapid procurement pathways, including SBIR and Other Transaction Authority (OTA) initiatives
  • Lead technical proposal evaluations, participate in source selections, and ensure proposed solutions meet mission and operational requirements
  • Assist with financial and program documentation, including Form 9 and MIPR processing, and track program cost, schedule, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and component providers to ensure execution and adherence to program timelines
  • Support technical and contractual negotiations regarding scope, pricing, and program requirements
  • Apply knowledge of Joint Warfighting Concepts, Combatant Command (CCMD) processes, and operational planning frameworks such as DIME, the OODA Loop, and the Joint Planning Process (JPP)
