Senior Operations Manager – GMP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Location: Onsite – Hunt Valley, MD Pharmaceutics International, Inc. (Pii), a Jabil Company, is a leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) delivering end-to-end solutions across drug development, clinical manufacturing, commercial-scale production, and packaging. With deep expertise in oral solid dose, sterile/aseptic manufacturing, clinical trial supply, formulation, and technical development, Pii partners with pharmaceutical innovators to accelerate the delivery of complex therapies from concept to market—safely, reliably, and efficiently. The Senior Operations Manager is a key site leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing manufacturing and operational execution at Pii’s Hunt Valley facility. This individual will lead cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations while meeting quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives in a regulated pharmaceutical environment. Reporting to senior site leadership, the Senior Operations Manager will drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and scalable growth in support of Pii’s CDMO mission and Jabil’s global operational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related discipline required, (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 12+ years of progressive operations or manufacturing leadership experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO, or regulated environments.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience required.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional teams and driving measurable operational improvements.
  • Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMPs, and pharmaceutical quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing and operational activities across assigned functional areas, ensuring alignment with production schedules, quality standards, and business priorities.
  • Drive execution of clinical and commercial manufacturing programs in compliance with cGMP, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Directly manage and develop managers and supervisors across operations functions.
  • Build a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with HR to support workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and training strategies.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance throughput.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs) related to operational deviations.
  • Support technology transfer, new product introductions, and scale-up activities.
  • Partner closely with Quality, Technical Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, EHS, and Program Management to ensure integrated execution.
  • Support client interactions as an operations subject matter expert, ensuring commitments are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, capacity modeling, and long-range operational forecasting.
  • Ensure all operations meet FDA, EMA, and other global regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies.
