About The Position

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to support our project teams in the optimization of complex transportation and facility environments. This role is responsible for identifying and recommending solutions to operational challenges across technical functional areas. The Senior Operations Engineer serves as a key technical resource, conducting sophisticated studies, data analysis, and high-fidelity simulations to improve efficiency and capacity. This position plays a critical role in managing the impacts of infrastructure and policy changes, ensuring seamless coordination between project teams and management. Position Summary: The Senior Operations Engineer performs technical studies and simulation modeling for terminal and systems operations. This role requires expertise in capacity and flow analysis, utilizing specialized software such as Simio or CAST to document inefficiencies and develop data-driven infrastructure recommendations.

Requirements

  • 5–12 years of experience in operations analysis, simulation, and data analytics.
  • Direct experience with Simio or equivalent flow simulation software (e.g., CAST, Arena, AnyLogic).
  • Proficiency with MS Office/365.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Operations Research, or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aviation or large-scale transportation hubs.
  • Experience with statistical software (Python, R, or SAS) and visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Identify inefficiencies in complex facility components and provide improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct field observations and data collection for live operations.
  • Utilize Simio or CAST for discrete-event modeling and simulation.
  • Run utilization and queuing analyses to optimize throughput.
  • Review modeling methodology, assumptions, and parameters for external studies.
  • Analyze operational data including schedules, equipment monitoring, and processing metrics.
  • Monitor staffing levels, equipment usage, and space occupancy.
  • Develop operational schedules and baseline resource allocations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders regarding capacity and delay reduction.
  • Review conceptual layout plans, massing, and stacking from an operational perspective.
  • Provide sketches and recommendations for layout or space allocation improvements.
  • Analyze operational changes necessitated by construction, safety, or technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with various business units to modify assumptions and review results.
