About The Position

The Senior Operations Category Specialist at BP Americas, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting Upstream Category Management for bpx energy. This position is responsible for fostering relationships with Business Unit Operations partners and their leadership, ensuring effective procurement and supply chain management services, and delivering value through strategic sourcing and category management. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • University degree in Procurement/Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering/technical field.
  • 5-10 years of relevant PSCM experience supporting indirect or contingent labor categories preferred.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and oral/written communication skills.
  • Confirmed understanding of systems such as Open Invoice, Ariba, and SAP, and proficiency in software tools like Excel and Access.
  • Experience in programming and understanding micro and macro economics' impact on oil field categories.

  • Experience in negotiations and agreements within the procurement field.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple fields and cultures.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Operations Category Managers in delivering PSCM services and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure implementation of BPX and PSCM standards, processes, and operating systems in all PSCM activities.
  • Understand and implement category management strategies and supplier management plans.
  • Support strategic sourcing of delegated categories and manage PSCM activities safely and effectively.
  • Identify PSCM risks and develop mitigation strategies and plans.
  • Conduct due diligence in mitigating external supply risks in contract execution and manage costs meticulously.
  • Lead communication related to PSCM with key stakeholders, including Business Unit functional VPs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local suppliers to drive continuous improvement and reduce operational risk.
  • Support regular performance reviews with stakeholders and suppliers to measure performance and address issues.
  • Implement PSCM common processes to drive efficiency and procurement transactions across the value chain.
  • Prioritize regional supplier and contract management activities, including performance reviews and contract audits.
  • Coordinate regional PSCM representation in supplier investigations and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  • Work closely with PSCM Category and Operations Teams to ensure business continuity.
  • Deliver value contributions that impact lease operating expenses.
