Requirements

  • Either a B.S. in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or related Construction/Engineering degree with the following: 7 + years' experience in commissioning, startup, or equipment testing experience (electrical, controls, integrated systems)
  • OR High School Diploma with the following: 10 + years' experience in commissioning, startup, or equipment testing experience (electrical, controls, integrated systems)
  • Willingness to relocate to Herndon, VA
  • Travel to Manufacturing Facilities Required as necessary
  • Familiarity with a broad range of Mission Critical Data Center Equipment
  • Familiarity with Modular Construction and/or equipment integration
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and technical equipment submittals including identification of errors or redundancies for resolution by others.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate new ideas with internal and external partners.
  • Experience in data centers, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity in utilizing and managing various Commissioning Management software's such as CXAlloy and BIM360
  • Outstanding Communication and Time Management Skills

Responsibilities

  • Review submittals, owner standards, specifications, and contract documents for familiarity and to ensure proper coordination with the onsite commissioning team.
  • Review design documents, specifications, and submittals to verify commissioning requirements and test criteria.
  • Review Factory Witness Testing (FWT) / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) scripts and provide comments as necessary.
  • Develop and manage the offsite commissioning plan, schedule, and resource allocation across multiple vendors and pre-fabrication sites.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning checklists, test scripts, and verification documents.
  • Develop/maintain the proper touch points with vendors/ integrators/ owners and onsite project teams to ensure equipment readiness and commissioning progress goals are met.
  • Attend and host Factory Witness Testing (FWT) / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). Create, provide formal reporting, and action items upon completion.
  • Oversee component verification documentation. Verify fabrication of equipment and ensure QA/QC oversight and compliance with specifications and owner standards.
  • Validate equipment performance, integration points, controls programming, and quality standards prior to shipment.
  • Manage vendor equipment reports for shipment approval prior to each equipment delivery and shipment deviation requests for equipment that is not completed prior to shipment.
  • Identify issues or non-conformance early and drive corrective action with vendors and trade partners.
  • Review L2 inspections which include, First of a Kind (FOAK)mock-up, set in place inspections, pre-energization inspection, and final clean inspections.
  • Ensure offsite commissioning activities align with project milestones and offsite production schedules.
  • Travel as necessary to vendor/ integrator facilities to ensure scopes of work are on target as well as for any offsite testing or commissioning activities.
  • Monitor progress and escalate risks impacting downstream construction or commissioning activities.
  • Provide regular progress updates and risk summaries to the project team and leadership.
  • Implement mitigation strategies to protect project timelines and onsite commissioning phases.
  • Work closely with project managers, design engineers, field commissioning teams, and quality control personnel.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from offsite commissioning to onsite installation and commissioning activities
  • Coordinate with Site QA/QC/MEP Team Lead and trade partners for inspection paperwork, manage and train the team on software tools required to manage and execute the quality program.
