The Senior Occupant CAE Engineer at Ford Motor Company is responsible for generating occupant CAE models and supporting the development of next-generation vehicle platform architectures, particularly for electric vehicles. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure safety and performance in vehicle design, focusing on occupant safety during crash scenarios.

  • Develop occupant CAE models in LS-Dyna for various crash modes.
  • Collaborate with D&Rs and component suppliers to ensure proper correlation of component CAE models.
  • Conduct DOE/DFSS studies using optimization tools to meet performance requirements.
  • Support quick concept development of new ideas.
  • Assess system-level occupant performance for all relevant impact configurations.
  • Optimize performance of components like airbags, seat belts, and steering columns to meet occupant performance targets.
  • Collaborate with safety structures team to address structural performance issues.
  • Deliver high-quality CAE models throughout all program phases until Start-of-Production.
  • Create standard work procedures for quality model delivery.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify and overcome technical challenges.
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong engineering mechanics fundamentals
  • 8+ years of experience in developing safety systems and components
  • 8+ years of experience in designing and launching new safety systems from concept to production
  • Knowledge of global passive safety public domain and regulatory requirements
  • Non-linear finite element analysis and correlation capability
  • Program experience in analysis and testing
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse global team
  • Strong technical skills in safety and simulation
  • Eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
  • Comfortable presenting to executive leadership.
