About The Position

The Senior WIC Nutritionist is a key member of the WIC program management team and is responsible for overseeing all nutrition and health‑related components of the program to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or Nutrition Education plus 2 years of post‑graduate community nutrition experience
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or Nutrition Education plus 1 year post‑graduate community nutrition experience
  • Registered Dietitian plus 1 year post‑graduate community nutrition experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse participant populations
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to work across multiple WIC sites
  • Flexibility to cover varying clinic hours as needed

Nice To Haves

  • WIC program experience preferred
  • Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) credential preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate nutrition services to ensure compliance with federal regulations and state policies
  • Certify high‑risk prenatal and postpartum participants, infants, and children
  • Provide nutrition education, counseling, and referrals
  • Oversee management and quality assurance of special infant formulas
  • Supervise and collaborate with the Breastfeeding Coordinator to promote and support breastfeeding
  • Recruit, hire (with Program Director), train, and supervise nutrition staff
  • Ensure staff maintain current knowledge and skills through ongoing training
  • Conduct bi‑annual staff evaluations and monthly quality assurance audits
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to address participant needs and improve care coordination
  • Plan, evaluate, and enhance delivery of nutrition education services
  • Implement new strategies to improve participant engagement and outcomes
  • Work with the Program Director to define staff roles, schedules, clinic flow, and service hours
