The Office Department of Nursing is seeking candidates for 2026/2027 Senior Nursing Lab Assistant. The senior nursing laboratory assistants’ function as an assistant to and under the direction of the Coordinator and Facilitator of the Simulation and Clinical Learning Resource Center.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares all equipment and supplies for the scheduled scenarios and modules.
  • Ensures that supplies are readily available for students to complete their required scenarios and modules.
  • Prepares to assist students by reviewing appropriate videos and texts so that the senior nursing laboratory assistants are knowledgeable about the skill to be preformed.
  • Monitors students’ performance in selected skills.
  • Monitors disposable supplies as to usage and reports to either Coordinator or Facilitator when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Ensures the community health bags are fully supplied and maintains records to track bag sign-out and return, as needed.
  • Keeps the lab neat and orderly at all times and especially when leaving.
  • Cleans and restocks supplies.
  • Maintains record of students using the lab, tracking the date, name, and times in and out via the lab sign in/out QR code.
  • Meets as requested with either Coordinator or Facilitator to review and prepare for upcoming scenarios/modules.
  • Recognizes that lab duties and student assistance are priority roles during work hours, studying only when other duties and responsibilities are completed.
  • Recognizes that for legal reasons, no one can be in the lab except the lab assistant and students using the lab for practice.
  • If the senior nursing laboratory assistants are responsible for closing the lab, all the simulators must be turned off using the correct sequencing and all equipment must be secured in the proper closets before the lab is locked.
  • Monitors the need for clean linens and assists with the laundry independently.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator or Facilitator.
