About The Position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. This is a full time Senior Certified Nursing Assistant opening at GSS SD Canistota Ctr in Canistota, SD. The Senior Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as an experienced caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. The NA demonstrates expert level experience as a certified nursing assistant and assists other staff as needed. The role involves providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).

Requirements

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Two years' clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing.
• Maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in long-term care settings.
• Completion of Restorative Nursing training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents.
• Assists residents with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs.
• Communicates resident's changing condition and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
• Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care.
• Assists residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate.
• Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents.
• May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
