We are proud to be: Nationally Ranked in 1 Adult Specialty and 4 Children's Specialties Regionally Ranked as #7 in Florida, #2 in Orlando, and #3 in Florida (Children’s) High Performing in 3 Adult Specialties and 12 Procedures/Conditions Position Summary: Performs general patient care including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and continuous observation under the guidance, mentoring, and oversight of the Registered Nurse in the Multisystem Progressive Care Unit (PCU). In this role, you'll provide exceptional care in a fast-paced, acute care environment, managing a wide range of conditions including Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, Renal, GI, and Post-Op patients. Our 40-bed unit operates 24/7 and offers robust support through corporate and unit-based educational opportunities.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program and preparing to enter the final two semesters or quarter of the applicable nursing program.
- Completed Senior Nurse Intern competencies.
- Proof of continued enrollment in a pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment exceeding one (1) year.
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
- None required.
Responsibilities
- Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health.
- Performs advanced skills after achieving demonstrated competencies such as: Nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal Wound irrigation and complex dressing changes Maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) Tracheostomy care
- Performs increased or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients as assigned and utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist during staff changes or transfer of care.
- Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.
- Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ensures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
- Follows standard precautions and adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures.
- Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team.
- Participates in handoff report and conducts purposeful hourly rounding on patients.
- Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines.
