We bring new human-centered products to market through close collaboration across three capability units: Synapse, frog, and AIE.Your Role  The Senior New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer plays a critical role in the product-realization process by bridging product design, supply chain, and scalable contract manufacturing. This position ensures that innovative product concepts become reliable, manufacturable, and cost‑effective realities. As an experienced technical leader, you will collaborate with cross functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineers to guide products from prototype to mass production. This role suits a hands‑on systems thinker who thrives at the intersection of engineering disciplines and manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field.
  • 7+ years of experience in new product introduction, manufacturing engineering, or hardware development.
  • Proven success in scaling hardware products from prototype to production.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., PCB assembly, injection molding, machining, mechanical assembly).
  • Experience creating manufacturing documentation: BOMs, work instructions, process flows.
  • Ability to manage suppliers, negotiate costs, and handle high‑complexity component sourcing.
  • Experience leveraging AI/GenAI for process efficiency and effectiveness
  • Excellent communication skills including presenting to clients and senior stakeholders, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience sourcing and managing overseas suppliers of custom fabricated parts.
  • Ability to travel to support builds (est 10% - 15%).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation or robotics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in regulated or reliability‑driven industries (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, industrial).
  • Familiarity with statistical tools and methods (e.g. capability studies, sampling plans) to improve manufacturing quality.
  • Familiarity developing manufacturing test systems, setting test limits, and ensuring test coverage.
  • Familiarity working with external design partners such as JDMs and complex component manufacturers to jointly develop and manufacture products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of new hardware products from engineering prototype to production scale by identifying a suitable manufacturing partner, aligning critical vendors, and supporting validation builds on-site at the factory.
  • Own the release of build documentation, including the Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly work instructions, and quality inspection plans.
  • Work with electrical and firmware engineers to specify a robust manufacturing test plan that can be implemented by the contract manufacturer.
  • Drive early manufacturability assessments and recommend design-for-manufacture (DFM), design-for-assembly (DFA), and cost optimization improvements.
  • Manage cost of goods sold (COGS), negotiate pricing, and ensure component availability from small scale builds to production ramp.
  • Plan and lead prototype builds including scheduling, material readiness, line setup, execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate process automation solutions to improve build efficiency, consistency, and scalability, such as robotics for assembly or automated testing.
