The Mission: The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for an a Senior Network/Systems Tools Engineer to support the Intelligence Sector. The job duties are as follows: System Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain the OpenText Network Operations Management (NOM) system architecture, with a specific focus on the Operations Bridge for the Transformation and Integration Cloud (OPTIC) Data Lake, ensuring a scalable, resilient, and secure platform for enterprise network management, performance monitoring, and compliance reporting. Security & Compliance: Provide SME support and guidance to junior administrators and operators that manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within NOM to ensure data security and compliance. Administration & Maintenance: Plan, install, configure, secure, upgrade, and patch the OPTIC Data Lake (DL) in containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes). Conduct similar duties for the Juniper Routing Director (formerly Paragon), which runs Kubernetes with a Linux base OS. Develop and maintain API integrations using REST APIs and connectors to connect both platforms with other enterprise systems and applications. Performance & Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance and stability of the OpenText NOM and OPTIC DL systems, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks. Configuration: Configure and manage data ingestion into the OPTIC Data Lake, ensuring seamless integration of topology, events, and metrics from various sources. Data Management & Reporting: Administer the OPTIC DL, including data ingestion, storage, backup, and restore processes, and manage Stakeholder Dashboards and reports for capacity planning and trend analysis. Troubleshooting & Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to installation, configuration, performance, and integrations, working with vendor support when necessary. Documentation & Training: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation according to standards. Automation: Automate routine operational processes using scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell) to increase efficiency and reduce manual workload.

  • Candidate must have 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 8 years, master’s and 10 years, bachelor’s and 12 years, associates and 14 years or HS diploma and 16 years.
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes in Linux environments.
  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in Linux (RHEL) with experience administering tools in virtualized or containerized environments.
  • Problem Solving and Communication: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, possess solid communication skills, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Required Clearance: TS/SCI with specific poly.
  • Database Knowledge: Knowledge and familiarity of database management systems like PostgreSQL or Vertica.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Knowledge of network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, DNS, DHCP) and experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Automation: Familiarity with scripting languages for automation, such as Perl, Ruby, or Python.
