About The Position

At Agile Defense, the vision is to bring adaptive innovation to support the nation's most important missions through the seamless integration of advanced technologies, elite minds, and unparalleled agility. The U.S. Army utilizes PdM GENM-A as a resource to lead the modernization, expansion, enhancement, and upgrades of IT infrastructure, systems, and communications for its CONUS installations, known as COMPMOD. This effort aims to obtain current IT technology and upgrade legacy IT technology to meet mission needs on an enterprise level as part of the Army Unified Network Plan. The Senior Network Installation Specialist role is crucial for this initiative, requiring a strong background in system implementation architecture and a deep understanding of various IT infrastructure components. The role involves supporting the survey phase, which includes assessing Non-Classified Installation Campus Area Network (NIPR), Secret Classified Installation Campus Area Network (Secured internet protocol router (SIPR) Foundational Wi-Fi, Voice Modernization (VMOD) Mission, Command from Afar (MCfA), Outside Plant (OSP), Inside Plant (ISP) Installation, Service Node (ISN), and Army Enterprise Transport (AET) capabilities being deployed at each installation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience as Implementation Engineer
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time on deployments for both CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations
  • Strong background in system implementation architecture
  • Deep understanding of various IT infrastructure components

Responsibilities

  • Planning and completion of complex and detailed technical projects from survey and engineering to site implementation
  • Develop and maintain high standards of installation and service, and assist with leading, training, and counseling network installation technicians toward high performance
  • Serve as a technical knowledge resource to project managers and field technicians
  • Work directly with project managers as the first line of communication for the field installation teams supporting the PM’s project(s)
  • Maintain accountability for the task-oriented work efforts of project assigned personnel
  • Help ensure engineering schedules are met or exceeded
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into comprehensive IT implementation designs
  • Lead the implementation and deployment of IT systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards
  • Responsible for physical onsite network surveys to determine the engineering solution for each project assigned
  • Responsible for providing client-site network installations support of hardware, including installation of entire service delivery nodes, as prescribed by Site Engineering Solution (SES) documentation
  • Prepare and provide complex site reports, documents, diagrams and VISIO drawings as required to meet customer deliverable requirements. Train and certify others to develop the same proficiency
  • Provide input to the field technicians group to assist with the formation of procedural documentation for field tasks - BER testing, platform configurations, deliverables, procedures, etc.
  • Performs configuration of installed technology, which may include cryptographic, MPLS, optical and timing equipment and supporting systems
  • Performs troubleshooting and fault-isolation to bring installed equipment to functional state. Coordinates with network engineers to facilitate installation testing and acceptance
  • In coordination with Engineering, provide project design support where needed and requested to meet customer objectives
  • Assesses, designs, builds, and documents current site network configuration and user requirements at each site. Interprets SES according to real world conditions encountered at client site and modifies solution/design accordingly
  • Directs and leads preparation of drawings documenting configuration changes
  • Performs system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, and other platform specifications
  • Documents as-built configuration through redlined SES documentation and produces Completion Reports (CR). Provides oversight and guidance of client-site installation support services
  • Maintain high standards of installation services, and help instill this in assigned field techs
  • Provide onsite and remote technical direction in support of system's deployment, configuration, commissioning, and testing
  • Provide onsite directions and assistance during installations
  • Ensures assigned field techs remain current on all required training and certifications to completion
