About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at CYOS Solutions is responsible for designing, building, and supporting the organization's data center network and infrastructure capabilities. This role requires a high level of autonomy and decision-making, with a focus on managing WAN, LAN, WLAN, firewalls, routers, and switches. The engineer will also oversee computing infrastructure, provide strategic advice, and mentor less experienced colleagues while contributing to the agency's strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage infrastructure requirements to meet future demand.
  • Define effective procedures for prioritization and escalation of infrastructure issues.
  • Communicate end-to-end implications of configuration changes.
  • Analyze the quality of requests for change management.
  • Provide detailed technical advice to the Executive.
  • Share knowledge and expertise as a subject matter expert.
  • Develop and implement standards, strategies, and operational policies.
  • Oversee operations of teams, setting work priorities and managing resources.
  • Develop staff capability through coaching and mentoring.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and third-party vendors for technology equipment.
  • Oversee the development and performance of contracted goods and services.
  • Review and advise on technical documentation including design and implementation plans.
  • Manage relationships with other agencies and service providers.
  • Attend interagency meetings to influence business outcomes.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Lead change and contribute to local business plans and ICT strategies.

Requirements

  • A current security clearance of at least Negative Vetting Level 1.
  • At least five years of experience in the design, management, and maintenance of large scale data center networking environments.
  • Experience in developing network high-level designs and detailed designs.
  • Ability to articulate detail through design and implementation plans.
  • Highly developed diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid knowledge in design and configuration of Networking and Wireless LAN.
  • Experience in the design and integration of enterprise networks.
  • Experience in implementing, configuring, and maintaining network devices including Cisco Catalyst, Nexus Switches, and F5 Load balancers.
  • Expertise in dynamic routing protocols, particularly EIGRP, OSPF & BGP.
  • Experience with network management software and tools for diagnosing network problems.
  • Knowledge of Australian Government information security policies and the ASD Information Security Manual.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rates between $130 - $160 (including superannuation).
  • Potential for contract extensions up to 2x 12 months.
