About The Position

The position of Senior Network Engineer includes planning, engineering, installing, configuring, supporting, maintaining, and monitoring of enterprise grade network infrastructure with other members of the IT Operations team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Networking Engineering, Cisco CCNA Certification, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of experience in Network Engineering or related field.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Cisco network equipment.
  • Exceptional knowledge in routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
  • Exceptional technical communication.
  • Exceptional decision making.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the principles of data communications and telecommunications.
  • Exceptional knowledge of teleprocessing and telecommunications architecture.
  • Exceptional knowledge of local area network concepts and fundamentals.
  • Capability and capacity of various software products/communication utilities.
  • Exceptional knowledge of facility requirements for network locations such as power, space, cabling, and HVAC requirements.
  • The ability to perform independent system analysis, design, and plan implementation.
  • The ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Champions in the planning, design, technical review, and implementation for new network infrastructure, hardware, and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
  • Coordinates and/or performs additions and changes to network hardware and attached devices; includes investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new hardware and software.
  • Proactively ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Manage network security controls.
  • Configure and install network equipment as planned with the IT Operations team and do so while following industry and security best practices.
  • Support network equipment as needed based on reports from users or other monitoring techniques.
  • Coordinate or provide ongoing maintenance to network equipment.
  • Provides 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Document technical information for different network processes.
  • Research, recommend, and implement new technologies to the Ops team.
  • Regularly confers with other members of the IT Department regarding current and prospective network changes and future needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users, vendors, and managers.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Mentor other members of the team while demonstrating positivity and good morale.
  • Reinforce strong work ethics amongst other members of the team.
  • Conduct research and evaluation of new network technology and recommend purchases of network equipment.
  • You will be expected to perform in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • You will be responsible for following safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and using good safety judgment. You will be expected to report all unsafe activities and conditions to the Supervisor and/or Safety Representative.
