About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse professionals. In this role, you will support Peraton's Customs and Border Protection Network Operations Center program. This is an on site position based in Ashburn, Virginia, Springfield, Virginia, or Orlando, Florida , and candidates must reside near one of these locations to be considered. Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities: Provides ongoing network support, addresses availability issues, overcomes performance problems, and provides overall level two support. Designs, installs, maintains, and coordinates the use of network systems. Evaluates hardware and software and peripheral equipment for large, complex networks. Manages network performance, diagnoses performance problems, and undertakes tuning activities to ensure network performance meets SLR requirements. Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network. Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance, and problem resolution. Trains users, maintains, creates, and deletes user accounts. Maintains and updates system security plans on all platforms. Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures, and standards. Enforces network security procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 12 years of experience, Associates degree 14 years of experience or a Masters degree 10 years of experience or a High School diploma and 16 years of experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain/maintain a DHS CBP Public Trust clearance.
  • 10+ years' experience working in NOC environment.
  • Routing and switching/Firewall (FW)/load balancing.
  • Working understanding of the OSi model Layers 1-3.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and the functions of NW technologies.
  • Working understanding of NW security devices, IPsec VPNs, TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, VRF, VLANS, Bandwidth Utilization, and Load Balancers.
  • Candidate must be capable to setup tools and capture, mine and interpret data from Wireshark, Syslog, Netscout, and SteelCentral to maintain and restore overall network health.
  • Must be able to work shift work.

Nice To Haves

  • Current DHS CBP Clearance or higher.
  • Use of Remedy ticketing tools in a NOC environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate understanding of Incident, Change, Problem and Request management practices.
