About The Position

Old Mission Capital, LLC seeks a Senior Network Engineer at its facility located at 1 N. Dearborn Street, 8th Floor, Chicago, IL 60602. Enhance network platform to grow alongside ever-expanding business on a global scale. Responsible for the design, administration, and support of global network infrastructure. Take full ownership of network infrastructure and lead others to develop automation solutions that build, run, and maintain tools. Work hand-in-hand with site reliability engineer to redesign, architect, and automate network. Maintain, improve, and grow the automation function with the network to minimize the work to deploy and validate changes, and fix issues as they arise. Design, implement, and support global network infrastructure. Monitor, troubleshoot, and identify solutions for any network related issues. Replace faulty network hardware components when required. Provide technical expertise to both internal and external users. Proactively improve infrastructure by contributing to automation efforts. Create and maintain documentation detailing the implemented network components as well as relevant procedures and other documentation. Deploy hardware networking switches on a larger scale. Architect and design network infrastructure. Provide overall monitoring of networking systems. 100% telecommuting permitted.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Experience performing routing and switching utilizing BGP, OSPF, PIM, SM, DM, and Multicast.
  • Utilizing TCP/IP and the OSI model to troubleshoot network issues and optimize network performance.
  • Using monitoring tools including Grafana, Graylog, SNMP, Syslog, and sFlow to track performance metrics.
  • Performing packet capture analysis using Wireshark or tcpdump.
  • Utilizing dark fiber and DWDM technologies to create high-speed, low-latency connections.
  • Performing configuration management using Ansible and as Salt/Chef/Puppet.
  • Working in a Linux environment to install packages, run network scripts, and manage cron jobs.
