About The Position
The Senior Network Engineer - Lead position is a critical role within the IT Infrastructure & Network Engineering & Operations team at GovCIO, located in Washington, D.C. This position is designed for an experienced professional who will be responsible for leading the design, configuration, upgrading, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and patching of data network hardware and software. The successful candidate will work closely with various engineering disciplines to ensure that network and system requirements are met and that all components function cohesively. In this role, the engineer will gather information regarding the capabilities of Company products and investigate the technical capabilities of both Company products and competing solutions. This includes staying updated on developments in hardware and software, generating quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions, and ensuring compliance through formal verification methods. The engineer will also translate high-level product development strategies into detailed network and system requirement specifications. The position requires the establishment and coordination of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development. The engineer will design interfaces and integrate network and system elements to ensure they work together effectively. Performance assessment will be a key responsibility, utilizing evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Additionally, the engineer will serve as a customer liaison, supporting business development activities and shaping requirements based on customer needs. The role also involves coordinating the planning, design, and installation of equipment, participating in system conceptual design, and documenting design concepts. The engineer will be responsible for installing new hardware, systems, and software for networks, as well as designing and building network services, equipment, and devices. Monitoring system performance and implementing performance tuning will be essential tasks, along with reviewing test plans and procedures to ensure they meet contractual objectives and participating in the testing process to validate requirements.
