Senior Network Architect

Inspiren
1d$185,000 - $210,000Remote

About The Position

We are seeking a highly-skilled Senior Network Architect to own and lead the design and execution of network architectures for Inspiren’s hardware devices, platforms, and systems. As a senior member of the hardware engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the connectivity, reliability, and scalability of our solutions. You will drive innovation in on-device and edge networking, ensure the integration of cutting-edge communications, and deliver network designs that meet the highest standards of performance, security, and resilience across the lifecycle of all of Inspiren’s devices and platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in network architecture or network engineering for connected devices or IoT systems, including the successful launch and ongoing maintenance of multiple products
  • Network Architecture & Protocols: Deep experience designing IP-based network architectures for connected devices, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and secure tunneling for edge-connected systems.
  • Device & Edge Networking: Experience in architecting connectivity between devices, gateways, and cloud services (e.g., Ethernet, Wi-Fi, cellular, and local wired networks) with a focus on reliability and low-latency telemetry and control.
  • Segmentation, Security, and QoS: Hands-on experience with network segmentation, VLANs, ACLs, firewall rules, and quality-of-service policies to ensure safe coexistence of Inspiren devices with facility networks and clinical systems.
  • Cloud and IoT Integration: Experience designing end-to-end data paths from devices to cloud platforms (e.g. MQTT/HTTPS APIs, IoT hubs, load balancers), including certificate management, authentication, and lifecycle management.
  • Observability & Management: Proficiency in defining and implementing network monitoring, logging, metrics, and remote management strategies for large fleets of devices deployed across senior living facilities.
  • High-Availability & Resilience: Knowledge of redundancy strategies, failover paths, and offline/degraded-mode operation for critical healthcare workflows, including edge caching and store-and-forward patterns.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting to changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Start-up experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Network Architecture Projects: Oversee the end-to end definition of device and edge-level network architectures for new hardware products from concept to mass production release.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with hardware engineers, embedded systems engineers, software developers, product managers, key stakeholders, and our outsourced manufacturing partners to define network requirements and specifications per product needs.
  • Innovate and Optimize: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Introduce new methodologies and technologies to enhance network performance, observability, and reliability while meeting design specifications. Provide deep technical expertise and support in networked system development, testing, and validation across the product lifecycle.
  • Embed Rigorous Design for Excellence (DfX) Mindset: Conduct design reviews and both design and process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), partnering with our design and development partners to drive rigorous Design for Cost (DfX), supply chain, reliability, quality, and manufacturing methodologies across all phases of product development.
  • Mentor Team Members: Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation through a culture of continuous learning.
  • Ensure Quality, Reliability, and Compliance: Oversee the prototyping process, conduct testing, and verify network performance and reliability against product requirements, including scalability, redundancy, and fault tolerance. Ensure all network designs meet regulatory standards, security requirements, and industry best practices. Set quality and reliability specifications.
  • Problem-Solve: Troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues across device, edge, and cloud boundaries, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
