About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Net Zero Technical Advisor to support a global real estate/ financial institution client in developing and implementing comprehensive net zero roadmaps, strategies, and decarbonization programs across their global real estate portfolio. This role requires deep technical expertise in real estate sustainability, regulatory compliance, standards alignment, data management, and program execution across multiple geographies. The successful candidate will ensure all solutions are robust, compliant, and tailored to local, national, and international requirements. The Advisor will work closely with the Program Director in implementing the net zero roadmap for their real estate portfolio. Requirements

  • Deep expertise (10 years +) in net zero / decarbonization strategy, roadmap development and implementation of these strategies for real estate portfolios across diverse geographies. Preferably for other financial institutions / global real estate portfolio's.
  • Proven experience with sustainability regulations, standards, and certifications (LEED, WELL, BREEAM, ISO 14001, SBTi, TCFD, GRESB, etc.).
  • Demonstrable track record in playbook documentation, methodology revision, and program management aligned to regulatory requirements. Preferably on the decarbonization of real estate portfolio's.
  • Hands-on experience with energy efficiency retrofits and construction projects (5 years +)
  • Strong data validation, quality assurance, and exception management skills, including regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver robust KPI reporting structures and dashboards tailored to compliance needs.
  • Familiarity with project pipeline tracking, gap analysis, and prioritization methods considering local mandates and incentives.
  • Advanced proficiency in digital reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Relevant degree in engineering, sustainability, environmental science, or related field.
  • Experience working in or with multiple geographic markets and understanding of local sustainability drivers.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement capabilities.

  • Professional accreditation (e.g., LEED, WELL, CEM, PMP, or similar) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead creation, integration, and adjustment of client-specific net zero strategies and decarbonization roadmaps, ensuring alignment with global, national, and local sustainability regulations (e.g., EU Taxonomy, UK Net Zero Strategy, US EPA Guidelines, local ordinances).
  • Advise clients on compliant pathways to net zero across diverse real estate portfolios, considering regional policy frameworks and permitting requirements.
  • Integrate key net zero roadmap recommendations with internal communications and engagement plans.
  • Maintain and update the Net Zero Delivery Playbook, ensuring all methodologies reflect current standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate documentation and integration of best-practice approaches tailored to local market contexts.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving sustainability regulations, standards, and certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL, BREEAM, ISO 14001, SBTi, TCFD, GRESB) for all geographies served.
  • Ensure all organizational playbooks, strategies, and project implementations comply with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
  • Advise on the implications of regulatory changes and best practices for multi-jurisdictional real estate portfolios.
  • Integrate governance frameworks within playbook and reporting structures, ensuring compliance oversight where required.
  • Develop ongoing roles and responsibilities for project teams with clear accountability for regulatory adherence.
  • Support internal communication efforts to drive net zero program adoption in compliance with local and international mandates.
  • Manage the ongoing project pipeline tracker, including monthly reviews and sourcing/documenting with new (Net Zero for Real Estate) projects with attention to regulatory deadlines and compliance triggers.
  • Facilitate gap-to-goal calculations and project prioritization considering regulatory requirements and incentive programs.
  • Conduct quarterly portfolio change reviews and ensure ongoing assurance and data validation.
  • Lead initial dataset validation, quality assurance regimes, and exception management processes, ensuring regulatory reporting integrity.
  • Establish and monitor performance triggers to enable corrective actions in line with compliance needs.
  • Refine and align Net Zero KPIs in collaboration with cross-functional teams, incorporating regulatory and standards-based metrics.
  • Organize and lead KPI workshops to ensure stakeholder engagement and governance integration.
  • Design and deliver standardized monthly and quarterly status reports, integrating with digital dashboards (e.g., Tableau), tailored to local reporting requirements.
  • Produce, disseminate, and align regular reporting with project and portfolio implementation, including regulatory disclosures.
  • Support the development of reporting tools and dashboards that enable regulatory data tracking and standards-based analytics.
  • Conduct advanced data integrity checks and analyses for quarterly KPI calculation and reporting, ensuring regulatory readiness.
  • Provide tailored advisory support that reflects the regulatory, climatic, and market realities of each geography served.
  • Coordinate with regional subject matter experts to ensure solutions are locally relevant and globally benchmarked.
  • Provide expert research, benchmarking, and advisory support on sustainability / real estate decarbonization topics as requested, with a focus on regulatory changes and standards evolution.

  • The salary range for this position is $175,000 - $200,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
