AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Senior NEPA and Sustainability Practitioner to join our Environment Team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Edison, New Jersey; Alexandria , Virginia; or Laurel, Maryland areas to support NEPA and sustainability projects across the US. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in both NEPA and sustainability. NEPA experience should include leading Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Studies (EIS) for a variety of infrastructure projects and lead agencies. Sustainability experience should include certification as an Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) with a successful sustainability leadership role in the verification of at least one project using the Envision framework developed by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. Working knowledge of carbon accounting, developing sustainability goals and strategies, and LEED certification are desirable supplements. The candidate will lead or coordinate the preparation of all levels of NEPA documents and technical studies and provide quality assurance/quality control of NEPA and planning documents prepared by in-house staff or outside consultants. The candidate also will coordinate with resource and environmental permitting agencies, local stakeholders, and members of the public. The candidate will also lead or coordinate deliverables required to support our sustainability projects. The candidate will serve as a Project Lead ENV-SP, responsible for leading the Envision effort on behalf of the design team, including developing, directing, and implementing the sustainability strategies for the project’s Envision effort. The Lead ENV-SP will provide regular updates at project milestones and will coordinate with various design disciplines and subject matter experts to implement Envision to achieve the designated verification level clients are seeking for projects. The candidate will lead and/or support proposal efforts for potential NEPA or sustainability projects.   • Prepare and review of NEPA and planning documents working with a variety of lead Federal agencies
  • Prepare scopes and fees for NEPA and sustainability projects
  • Coordinate and lead NEPA and sustainability projects with varying degrees of complexity
  • Prepare and review Envision sustainability documents, including third-party reviews
  • Coordinate with design professionals and project teams to identify fatal flaws, schedule delays, opportunities for schedule acceleration or recovery, and opportunities to avoid or minimize impacts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, both public and private, as well as representatives of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and support pursuits with existing and new clients, as well as contribute to strategy to grow NEPA and sustainability related work, with sales related goals.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Sciences, Sustainability or a related field.
  • 12 plus years of experience with a demonstrated working knowledge of NEPA, including coordination of supporting technical studies and schedule management
  • 5 plus years of experience working in a sustainability role with a focus on Envision
  • Aptitude for maintaining a professional attitude and attention to detail while working alone, within a team environment, and/or on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent technical writing, computer, and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues
  • Strong organizational, task and time management skills, and deductive reasoning and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite of software, and familiarity with schedule management software
  • Ability to travel and visit project sites, if necessary.
  • Eligible candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Working knowledge of carbon accounting, developing sustainability goals and strategies, and LEED certification are desirable supplements.
