About The Position

Senior Naval Science Instructor is responsible for managing the NJROTC program IAW NSTC M-5761.1A. Additionally, the Senior Naval Science Instructor prepares an annual budget for the school district and booster club and monitors the transportation fund for the unit provided through the school district. The Senior Naval Science Instructor interfaces with community organizations in providing assistance for special ceremonies, including Veterans Day for the community and the National Laboratory, Memorial Day, and school-related activities such as homecoming, color guards for sports events, and other special occasions. Other responsibilities include interfacing with the JROTC instructors from around the state in semiannual planning meetings, and planning yearly drill, rifle, activities schedule, and annual awards through various outside organizations. The Senior Naval Science Instructor generally participates in various summer activities, including leadership camps, sail camps, and CMP marksmanship camps.

Requirements

• NJROTC Instructor Certification
• At least 8 years of honorable service and have achieved at least the rank of E-5 to be eligible to apply for NJROTC instructor certification
• JMIC marksmanship qualification

Responsibilities

• Maintain a certification for driving school vehicles.
• Manage the Midway USA Foundation account and keep accounts up to date.
• Educate students on the naval science curriculum and classroom management.
• Organize and plan classroom studies throughout the year.
• Instruct cadets in military drill.
• Mentor and counsel students.
• Manage government-furnished equipment like uniforms and training aids.
• Plan extracurricular activities, such as drill teams and field trips.
• Keep up with Navy developments and complete the required training.
