About The Position

The brand-new CBS Atlanta is looking for a Senior Multiskilled Producer to help shape and lead news coverage! This startup news operation wants a dynamic and experienced producer who thrives off fresh ideas and perspectives. This position will take the lead on designing and executing content and formats across dayparts. We want to own all the key moments that matter to our Atlanta audience. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience producing newscasts in a large market.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Deep interest in local news and issues that matter to viewers in the Atlanta area.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in newsroom leadership or team coordination is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing breaking news and live content in a fast-paced control room environment.
  • Familiarity with tools such as iNews, Crispin, and non-linear video editing software.
  • Strong understanding of digital and streaming platforms and how to integrate content across broadcast and digital.
  • Ability to pitch, book, and produce impactful segments and interviews.
  • Skilled communicator with excellent editorial judgment and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production team under the direction of executive producers to ensure newscasts are urgent, enlightening, and engaging for our audience across platforms.
  • Be the go-to person in the room to lead projects and expand coverage for news, weather and sports events.
  • Motivate our teams to build unique, visual, emotional and compelling content in our state-of-the-art full ARVR studio environment.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for producers, writers and editors, providing constructive feedback and support in their professional development.
  • Participate in daily editorial and planning meetings – to drive content development and live coverage planning.
  • Oversee script writing and copy editing to ensure accuracy, clarity, and fairness.
  • Coordinate with assignment editors, reporters, anchors, and technical staff to ensure seamless execution of newscasts.
  • Make informed, real-time decisions in the control room, particularly during breaking news situations.
  • Fill-in as producer on newscasts or cutins, if needed.
