About The Position

The incumbent must have experience to underwrite and process 1st mortgages and home equity lines of credit to determine eligibility of loan applications for sale and for portfolio. Responsibilities include analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risks and making loan eligibility decisions. A successful candidate should be able to exercise sound judgment on detailed analysis and ensure that all documentation is in compliance with the relevant Federal, State, and Agency regulations/guidelines and CU policy/procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience in residential mortgages and / or home equity processing, underwriting and production.
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae, Mass Housing, and FHLB policy/policies
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a 4-year college of university in business or related field or equivalent or a combination of education and experience in mortgage processing. A High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workflow
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively when required
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Ability for evaluating risks associated with each application
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with members and colleagues
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel and Word; knowledge of MERS and Calyx LOS helpful

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of HMDA and notary helpful

Responsibilities

  • Maintain registered NMLS status as required by SAFE Act
  • Communicate with members and staff involved in the mortgage production function
  • Order, track, record and validate underwriting conditions
  • Approve and process 1st mortgages and Home Equity Loans according to all federal and state regulations as well as agency guidelines ensuring compliance
  • Price and sell loans according to secondary market guidelines
  • Assist in HMDA preparation and the pre and post QC process
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workflow
