The Senior Mortgage Representative at Citi is a pivotal developing professional responsible for originating high-quality residential real estate loans. A critical aspect is robust risk management and compliance, ensuring adherence to all laws, company policies, and ethical conduct, transparently escalating control issues. The role also encompasses significant team leadership, providing support, training, and coaching to new and existing team members, including covering for absences. Operational duties involve quality audits, Salesforce task management, and resolving system issues. Finally, the officer serves as a Pod Production Captain, overseeing KPIs, managing referrals, and providing leadership support. This multifaceted role balances expert lending with strategic development, risk management, and team leadership to drive business objectives.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years relevant experience.
  • 3+ years previous mortgage sales experience required.
  • Residential Mortgage experience required.
  • Proven product sales capability is required.
  • The ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
  • The ability to communicate with customers about the proper documents and information needed to obtain a particular loan.
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern consumer lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong relationship development and management skills.
  • Expertise of general lending products and overall mortgage industry.

  • This position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry ("Registry") and obtain a unique identifier from the Registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills the role of Branch "Pod" Production Captain, overseeing the Retail Bank Branch aligned, Pod specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and referral inflow; assists with scheduling and provides leadership support for Pod activities.
  • When called upon, fulfills Manager on Duty (MOD) role during late-night shifts and Saturdays.
  • Assesses risk in all business decisions, safeguarding Citi's reputation, clients, and assets; drives compliance with laws and regulations, applies ethical judgment, and transparently reports control issues.
  • Manages system-related problems via a "Master ticket"; reviews Mortgage Representatives' file quality audits and SQA processes; follows up with Member Representatives on overdue Salesforce tasks.
  • Engages in live call listening and guidance for Jr. tenured Mortgage Representatives, providing coaching based on call observations; coordinates backup support for MRs during Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • Promotes Citi brand and services to customers, real estate agencies, and other referral sources; conducts external visits and develops relationships with key referral sources (Realtors, CPAs, builders); stays informed on local market trends and regulations.
  • Works with internal partners (branch staff, operations, processors, underwriters) for seamless loan transfers and closings; refers customers to other Citi professionals for non-lending financial services.
  • Responsible for analyzing and distributing various reports; assists with compliance training report follow-ups.
  • Consult with customers to understand their financial situation, personal objectives, and lending needs to help them achieve homeownership.
  • Collect and analyze customer information, including income, assets, debts, cash flow, credit history and risk tolerance to perform an initial customer assessment, along with aspects of the subject property to determine qualification for specific lending solutions.
  • Recommend suitable lending solutions that align with the customer's financial and personal goals, advising customers on the risks, benefits, and consequences of different lending alternatives.
  • Performs periodic reviews of branch referral conversion metrics, driving regular dialogue with branch leaders to improve efficiency and overall engagement.
  • Actively manages leads to meet targeted conversion rates.
  • Articulates and educates branch partners on techniques to drive client needs assessment and understanding of qualification standards.
  • Understands, articulates, and educates clients on financial calculations, rates, and pricing.
  • Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property to identify comprehensive home loan solutions.
  • Conducts inbound/outbound sales calls, consulting customers on available loan products while exercising independent judgment by pre-qualifying financial clients.
  • Establishes trust and builds rapport with clients and branch partners.
