About The Position

The Senior Mortgage Processor - Float position is responsible for supporting the Mortgage Processing team as a whole, providing coverage as needed to ensure mortgage loan applications continue moving forward and close on time. This role maintains close contact with the borrower, real estate agent, mortgage loan originator, and mortgage underwriter throughout the entire loan process. The position involves processing more complex mortgage loan applications, including conventional, government, bond/DPA, and new construction, and finalizing the loan processing stage for submission to the Closing Department. Additional tasks may include reviewing underwriting decisions, preparing decision letters, working with applicants to obtain necessary documents, and coordinating with outside vendors for appraisals and title documents. The employee is expected to comply with applicable laws and regulations and demonstrate a commitment to the culture and core values of Lake Michigan Credit Union.

Requirements

Ability to process more complex mortgage loan applications, including conventional, government, bond/DPA, and new construction.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Responsibilities

Support the Mortgage Processing team as a whole.
Provide coverage as needed to ensure mortgage loan applications continue moving forward and close on time.
Maintain close contact with the borrower, real estate agent, mortgage loan originator, and mortgage underwriter through the entire loan process on all assigned loans.
Perform additional tasks and duties based on capacity and needs of the business, which may include support and assistance to other processors.
Review underwriting decisions and prepare decision letters.
Work with applicants to obtain any additional documents needed for final approval when filling in for other processors or based on business needs.
Work with outside vendors to obtain appraisals and title documents in a timely manner.
Stay in contact with the borrower and internal partners in order to complete the loan process.
Communicate with all stakeholders regarding the loan process, providing excellent customer service at all times for both internal and external partners.
Process more complex mortgage loan applications, including, but not limited to, conventional, government, bond/DPA, and new construction.
Review credit reports, income and asset documentation, and confirm all documentation meets requirements to move forward with an underwriting decision.
Finalize the loan processing stage by preparing loans for submission to the Closing Department.
Obtain homeowner's insurance and payoffs.
Coordinate with the Title Department as well as internal partners in setting closing dates.
Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
