Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited program and Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or school.
  • Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant, or Surgical Technician.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Complete department-specific program modules for medical assistants.
  • 4+ years of directly related experience as a KSC Mohs Surgery Technician, Certified or Registered as a medical assistant OR 4+ years of related surgical assistant experience.
  • Proven ability to complete the review/skill validation program within 90 days of hire into this role.
  • Proven ability to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population.
  • Proven windows-based computer skills.
  • Proven basic Medical & Nursing terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in a Mohs or Dermatology clinic or related department.
  • Ambulatory Care experience.
  • EPIC experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supportive patient care functions for Mohs Surgery Department in the clinic Surgical Area.
  • Provides supportive patient care functions under the supervision of a Mohs Surgeon, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards.
  • Some duties may be delegated to the Sr. Mohs Surgery Technician by the Surgeon.
  • Administers injectables and/or performs other high-level skill performance.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and scribing of medical terminology to assist in documentation during surgical office procedures.
  • Sets up/assists with procedures, sterile field, cosmetic procedures, removal of sutures, sterilizes instruments, and manages pathology log to ensure all results are received and given to patients.
