Senior Mobile Android Engineer
About The Position
We're looking for an experienced Android Engineer to take full ownership of Pacaso's Android application. This is a high-impact IC role where you'll shape the technical direction of our mobile experience, working on features that directly drive our business forward. As the sole Android engineer, you'll have the autonomy to make architectural decisions, implement new features end-to-end, and establish patterns that will scale as we grow. You'll collaborate closely with our iOS engineer, product, and design teams while maintaining full ownership of the Android codebase. This role is positioned as the technical lead for Android, with the opportunity to grow into a Principal Engineer. For the right candidate with exceptional experience, we're open to hiring directly at the Principal level. We're looking for a passionate, self-driven IC who thrives with ownership - not someone seeking a people management track. Pacaso is entering an exciting growth phase. We have strong product-market fit, a loyal base of happy owners, and fresh capital from a recent Reg A raise. Requirements
- 5-7+ years of hands-on Android development experience
- Deep expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture patterns
- Strong understanding of Coroutines, Flows, and reactive programming
- Experience with ViewModels, Repositories, Hilt/Dagger, Room, and Retrofit
- Proven ability to own and drive technical decisions independently
- Consumer app experience shipping to the Play Store
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- CS degree or equivalent technical background preferred
Responsibilities
- Stay Swapping: Your first major project - building and iterating on a high-profile feature that's a company priority
- Owner Experience: Core features for existing Pacaso owners, including scheduling, availability management, and home services
- Home Shopping: Opportunities to work on the shopping/buyer side - search, discovery, Google Maps integrations, rich media experiences
- Platform & Architecture: Maintaining and evolving our modern Android architecture, establishing patterns for the future
