Senior ML Engineer - Healthcare AI Innovation
About The Position

Truveta is transforming healthcare by enabling researchers, clinicians, and life sciences organizations to learn from one of the most comprehensive collections of de-identified patient data in the United States, with access to longitudinal electronic health record (EHR) data from over 120 million patients. This opportunity is for a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer to pioneer new applications of AI on large-scale, real-world clinical data. This is a deeply research-oriented and exploratory engineering role, focusing on developing novel approaches beyond established patterns and turning cutting-edge ideas into scalable, impactful solutions at the frontier of machine learning and healthcare. The ideal candidate enjoys building systems and exploring new problem spaces where data, medicine, and AI intersect.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, or applied statistics
- Experience building and deploying ML models in real-world settings
- Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with healthcare or biomedical data (EHRs, clinical notes, genomics, imaging)
- Familiarity with modern ML approaches such as: Large language models / foundation models, Multimodal learning, Causal inference, Time-series and longitudinal modeling
- Experience bridging research and engineering (e.g., taking ideas from papers to production)
- Publications or demonstrated innovation in applied ML (a plus, not required)
Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced ML models and systems using large-scale EHR data
- Identify and develop novel use cases for AI in healthcare that have not yet been widely explored
- Leverage structured and unstructured clinical data, and integrate emerging data types such as genomics, imaging, and clinical notes
- Prototype new ideas and evolve them into production-ready solutions
- Partner with clinicians, researchers, product teams, and external stakeholders (e.g., pharma, life sciences organizations)
- Build solutions that enable better decision-making for customers and ultimately improve patient outcomes
