About The Position

The Senior Mining Engineer will provide strategic leadership in mine engineering, long-term planning, and project development. They will lead trade-off studies, mentor engineers, and contribute to strategic initiatives aligned with company values. This role is based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mining Engineering, or related field.
  • MBA (Preferred)
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in mine planning, operations, and engineering leadership roles.
  • Professional registration (QP. or equivalent).
  • Advanced proficiency in mine planning tools, cost modeling, and strategic planning software (Deswik, Xeras, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of underground and open-pit mining methods, including multi-orebody planning.
  • Proficiency in cost modeling, budgeting, and financial analysis using tools such as SAP and Xeras.
  • Experience leading trade-off studies, reserve calculations, and optimization initiatives.
  • Ability to integrate technical data across disciplines and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in managing consultant scopes, technical reviews, and capital project execution.
  • Familiarity with ESG considerations and alignment with strategic planning frameworks.
  • Proven track record in long-term planning, LOM strategy development, and reserve reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in major capital projects (greenfield, brownfield, or operating assets).
  • Experience mentoring junior and senior engineers and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Involvement in business improvement initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to present to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Develop LOM plans and long-range designs.
  • Lead trade-off studies, reserve calculations, and optimization initiatives.
  • Oversee engineers and value-adding projects.
  • Manage consultants and mentor junior staff.
  • Support project execution, budgeting, compliance, and strategic reporting.
  • Support regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Drive continuous improvement.
