The International Organization for Migration (IOM) supports Ministries of Health to strengthen health service capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious diseases and other public health threats in cross border communities, at borders and along mobility corridors. This position aligns with IOM’s Health, Border and Mobility Management (HBMM) Framework and other institutional approaches, linking population mobility with disease surveillance, preparedness and response efforts and strengthening IOM’s capacity to respond rapidly to emerging public health threats. Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Migration Health Division (MHD) and direct supervision of the Senior Migration Health Adviser (MHD-HQ), and Administrative Supervision of the Senior Migration Health Adviser (USRAP) and in close coordination with Senior Programme Officer (Health Security) and other relevant colleagues, the Senior Migration Health Project Coordinator will be accountable and responsible for the overall management and implementation of US Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD) global award. This includes the Global Outbreak Preparedness and Response Mechanism, aimed at strengthening disease surveillance and emergency or disease outbreak prevention, detection, and response activities, while concurrently initiating or sustaining relevant health system strengthening initiatives, as they relate to population mobility, transportation networks and corridors, border health, migrant populations, and regional/cross-border coordination.
