About The Position

As a Microsoft Fabric Engineer at GDIT, you’ll power innovation to drive mission impact and grow your expertise to power your career forward. Join GDIT as a Microsoft Fabric Engineer to design, build, and optimize cloud-based data solutions in a FedRAMP-compliant healthcare environment. You will work with Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory, and Power BI to enable secure, scalable, and compliant data pipelines, warehouses, and reporting solutions. As part of a platform engineering and data analytics team, you will ensure mission-critical healthcare data is efficiently ingested, transformed, stored, and visualized while adhering to HIPAA, FedRAMP, and FISMA compliance requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or analytics engineer, preferably in federal healthcare or regulated environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust
  • Hands-on experience with: Microsoft Fabric (Data Pipelines, Warehouse, Fabric Studio)
  • Azure SQL / Synapse Analytics / Data Warehouse design
  • Power BI (data modeling, dashboards, visualization)
  • Azure Data Factory for ETL/ELT orchestration
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance (FedRAMP, HIPAA, FISMA)
  • Experience with data modeling, dimensional design, and performance tuning

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
  • Experience in advanced analytics, machine learning integration, or AI-ready data pipelines
  • Knowledge of Azure Purview or other data cataloging/governance tools
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures
  • Experience with DevOps practices for data pipelines, including CI/CD for data workflows
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and documentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end Azure data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory.
  • Build and optimize Azure SQL databases, Synapse data warehouses, and analytics models for healthcare programs.
  • Implement ETL/ELT processes, data ingestion, transformation, and cleansing to support business and clinical analytics.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI for operational, clinical, and executive stakeholders.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all pipelines and storage systems.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, performant data solutions.
  • Maintain documentation for data models, pipelines, governance, and compliance processes.
  • Implement data governance, access control, and monitoring in alignment with FedRAMP, HIPAA, and FISMA.
  • Evaluate emerging Azure data services and recommend solutions to improve data processing, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
