A day in this role You start your morning reviewing measurement data trends and hunting down the biggest contributors to uncertainty. By mid-morning, you’ve redesigned a test setup to eliminate a stubborn error source, validated a calibration method against ISO17025 requirements, and documented results for internal and external audits. In the afternoon, you coach technicians through a complex procedure, steer multiple Standards Laboratory projects, and align Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) services with Quality Assurance (QA) needs across the business. What you’ll tackle Quantify error sources through rigorous root-cause analysis to establish reliability and uncertainty in measurements. Adjust or redesign measurement systems to minimize error and improve capability. Create, develop, and validate calibration methods, techniques, and procedures grounded in measurement science and accuracy/precision requirements. Author and maintain documentation and reports that meet national/international standards, including ISO17025. Lead and mentor calibration specialists, technicians, and administrative staff; provide direction and technical guidance. Deliver high-level technical expertise, oversight, and project management for the Standards Laboratory, M&TE services, and QA deliverables for both internal and external customers. What you bring Bachelor’s in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline, plus five years in metrology, engineering, or operations/maintenance; or an equivalent mix of education and experience. 5+ years in calibration and/or M&TE-intensive environments. Hands-on experience collecting data and performing measurement uncertainty calculations. Expert-level knowledge across Flow, Electrical, Dimensional, and Physical metrology. Ability to craft policies and procedures from complex, conceptual information drawn from diverse sources. Proven track record achieving internationally recognized calibration/testing accreditations (e.g., ISO17025, Z540).
